(breaking) Heart Lamp

The wall light features a neon ring framed by a folded mirrored surface. By changing the angle, the reflection of the ring is broken into segments. From a frontal position the reflection appears as a heart. By changing the point of view, the image of the heart splitters into segments.

A heart is one of the most commonly used icons in communication depending on context, implying several meanings from a simple like to real love or even buyable ‘love’. Either way it can be true or obscure, caught in a certain moment and context.

(breaking) Heart Lamp is inspired by the neon signs that illuminate the kind of nightlife promising pleasure and distraction. To refer to its iconic image a circle, a basic geometrical shape, is broken apart and rearranged into a heart, an interculturally intelligible symbol.

(breaking) Heart Lamp comes in polished copper, steel or aluminium with a circular neon or LED light tube.
